Some years ago a friend pulled me into the Film & TV industry on a hair and makeup job, and what I hoped would be a one off has turned into a new career. 

 

My formal training began over 20 years ago and includes a HND BTEC in Theatrical & Media Makeup. City & Guilds Wig-making. NVQ II Hairdressing. NVQ 3 Barbering. MA in Fashion Entrepreneurship.

 

I have studied at the University of the Arts, London. The London College of Fashion. The College of North East London and the London School of Barbering.

I worked for places like Madame Tussauds, Alex Rouse Wig Co. English National Opera, Makeup Forever and Theatre Calgary in Canada.

That said I took a long break from creative life to raise a family, do other things and live abroad. I had put most of my tools away until ...  (read top line). 

 

It wasn't easy coming back to being creative after time away - it is not like riding a bike, and so in between jobs - I caught myself up with some refresher courses. 

​

I love study and most recently developed my own training program called BLCKSTR helping HMUAs wanting to work with hair and makeup on people of colour.
